Biography

Mr. Eric Wessels currently serves as Utility Management Services Lead and is a Vice President at HDR. He has 30 years of experience in utility management, master planning, capital improvement program management, and the development and implementation of asset management strategies and systems for public agencies and private corporations.

Eric’s professional career has included projects in water/ wastewater operations and maintenance; master planning of regional water/wastewater and drainage systems; development of policies, procedures and industry best practices; construction management for municipal commercial and industrial projects. Eric has been actively engaged in every facet of sewer system improvement programs, including field services, capacity and condition assessments, O&M practices, asset management, FOG, CMMS, CMOM, data management and remedial corrective action CIP delivery. Mr. Wessels’ experience also includes design-bid-build, design-negotiate and design-build projects.
His wide range of experience managing projects such as the $1.3B USD San Antonio Water System Consent Decree Program, a $4B Global Consent Decree Program for Honolulu and a $900M City of San Diego program including capacity upgrades, condition assessment and system rehabilitation give him unique insight into assisting owners with project prioritization and improved organizational performance.

Eric holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from University of Texas at Austin. As a Texas native, Eric continues to enjoy the Lonestar State with his wife and two children.
